Doch bevor er zum Mars aufbrechen kann, steht eine ganz andere Herausforderung bevor: Die Sommerferien bei seinen Großeltern auf dem Land. Toms geordnete Welt gerät ins Wanken, denn er mag weder Veränderungen noch Lärm – und erst recht nicht die Farbe Rot. Seine Mutter, die für einige Zeit ins Ausland muss, macht ihm jedoch Mut: Wer es bei Oma und Opa schafft, schafft es überall. Also begibt sich Tom auf eine persönliche „Weltraummission“, die ihn vor ungewohnte Situationen stellt. Zusammen mit seinen älteren Geschwistern Elmar und Nina navigiert er durch das turbulente Leben der Großeltern, entdeckt neue Perspektiven und erkennt, dass auch das Unbekannte seine Reize haben kann.

For anyone who has ever faced challenges: Ten-year-old Tom is fascinated by space and dreams of becoming an astronaut. But before he can set off for Mars, he faces a completely different challenge: a summer vacation with his grandparents in the country. Tom's orderly world is shaken because he doesn't like change or noise - and certainly not the color red. However, his mother, who has to go abroad for a while, encourages him: if you can make it with grandma and grandpa, you can make it anywhere. So Tom embarks on a personal “space mission” that confronts him with unfamiliar situations. Together with his older siblings Elmar and Nina, he navigates the turbulent life of his grandparents, discovers new perspectives and realizes that even the unknown can have its charms.
