We offer preparatory courses for the German Language Diplomas DSD I and DSD II for high school students and young adults. Classes take place on Thursday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. at the Martin-Luther Church (499 Preston Street).
Students can earn the DSD I and/or DSD II German Language Diplomas as proof of their proficiency in German. More precisely, the DSD I Diploma serves as proof of the necessary language skills required in order to enrol in college-level courses in Germany. Students must be between 15 and 17 years old when they write the exam.
The DSD I preparatory course will officially begin on the 16th of September, 2010 and will end on the 26th of May, 2011. Since both the written and oral exams will already be taking place in March of 2011, instruction will take place during the March Break as well. The instructor will notify all students of the exact locations, dates and times of the exams, as soon as they are determined.
The DSD II German Language Diploma is recognized by the German Ministry of Education as proof of the necessary level of proficiency required in order to attend a German university and is considered to be the equivalent of a German secondary school diploma for second language learning (Abitur – Deutsch als Fremdsprache). Students must be between 17 and 21 years of age at the time of the exam.
The DSD II preparatory course will officially begin on the 9th of September, 2010 and will end in mid-January, 2011 after the oral exams have taken place. The written portion of the DSD II exam will most likely be taking place in December of 2010 and the oral exams will take place in January, 2011. Exact dates, times and locations will be announced as soon as they are determined.
