About Us
Thank you for your interest in the German Language School Ottawa (GLS).
Founded in 1971 by the German-speaking community, the school runs a playgroup for 3 year-olds, classes for elementary students (JK to Grade 8), as well as credit level courses (Grades 9 to 12), classes for adults, and special classes to prepare students for German language diplomas. Classes are taught by experienced instructors who are dedicated to creating a vibrant learning community for our students.
The goal of our courses are to help children and teens acquire a solid foundation in the German language in terms of speaking, reading, writing, grammar, literature, geography, history and culture.
The school has a well equipped library that includes a variety of German books and DVDs.
Cultural programs running throughout the year offer students an opportunity to enhance and practice their language skills, as well as to enjoy a variety of fun activities while deepening their understanding of some of the key traditions celebrated in German-speaking countries.
The school has an elected Board of Directors.
